For water bottles, I would definitely go with adhesive. There are specialty ones that can withstand heat transfer vinyl, but it has a special coating on it that will accept that. So use a permanent adhesive for glasses, mugs, cups, whatever, it’ll stick great.

I do not seal my vinyl on tumblers. Most vinyl manufacturers actually recommend that you don’t apply a sealer over the vinyl. The exception to this would be if you want to go through the process of sealing your tumbler with epoxy. This is usually done with glitter tumblers.

How many coats of epoxy does a tumbler need?

It does depend on what you’re creating, but the average is 2-3 coats. To properly seal all the layers beneath, we recommend using a topcoat of your resin. For a sparkling finish, you can mix in glitter from our friends at Alumilite to realize your epoxy glitter tumbler vision.

How do you protect vinyl decals with cups?

Even when you CAN dishwash your vinyl mugs, over time and after repeated washings, your vinyl may start to peel. So if you plan on cleaning your mugs regularly in a dishwasher, you can do that by sealing them with Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe Sealer. This sealer can hold up in heat and be run through a dishwasher.
