What is a Welly Walk at Outdoor Elements? An adventurous walk through our woodland stream, splashing through shallow pools, scrambling over rocks and climbing over and under fallen tree branches.

Packwood House was built in the late C16 by William Fetherston (d 1601), and while it was not the manor house, it became the most important house in the parish because the lords of the manor were non-resident.

It’s now owned by the National Trust (since 1960) when the family endowed it to the Trust, although a descendant of the Holbech family still lives there and manages the property. Farnborough Hall is just under 40 miles southeast from our home in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire (map).

The house and gardens are open every day of the week, we no longer have a booking system in place for visits. Our quieter times are weekday afternoons. Last entry to the house is 3 30 pm and closes at 4 pm.

Where are the play glades in Packwood Welly walk?

At the entrance to the Welly Walk turn left and follow the pathway. After about a couple of minutes walk you will come to the first of four play glades. This is a good place to sit and rest, build a den or simply linger and listen to the birds.

Where to walk back after Packwood Welly walk?

If the children are feeling tired you can walk back along the chestnut avenue to your left just after you exit the Welly Walk. This will be a short cut back to the house and car park. Passing the two ponds on your right you enter Gorse Wood over a narrow wooden bridge.

Can you take four legged friends on Packwood walk?

Perfect for families, don your wellies and get muddy on Packwood’s Welly Walk or go for a longer stroll taking in the Stratford Upon Avon Canal. Four legged friends are very welcome in the park, but not in the house and gardens. You are welcome to take them through the Visitor Reception to get to the parkland walks.

Where is the wooden gate in Packwood Welly?

Follow the wooden sign over the board walk and continue as the pathway slopes down to two gateways breaking through a recently planted hedgerow. Once past the second gate follow the direction of the wooden sign and skirt the field past the large fallen oak to the wooden sign and gate beyond to the left.
